Welcome to The Meadows Lower School! 

I am pleased that you are interested in learning more about the School. The program is based on the reading program and philosophy of The Meadows School Founding Headmistress, Dr. LeOre Cobbley.

As Lower School has grown to its maximum size of 360 students, it has never wavered from the School's founding philosophy and is still "In Pursuit of Excellence." The School's mission is to serve academically ambitious and able children...to teach to every child's top performance level...and to instill in each the excitement of learning and the satisfaction that is felt by attaining a challenging goal.

Students in Lower School are advanced in all basic subjects and read one to three grade levels above their current grade-level. Creativity is nurtured at all levels, and students are offered many opportunities to put personal touches on their work. Each grade is comprised of three classes with a maximum of 20 students in each class. 

Kindness and consideration are expected. Growth in personal responsibility and positive character development are goals in every classroom. All specialists hold master's degrees in their fields and implement the School's mission and philosophy so the continuity of the program is seamless throughout the Lower School years.

Some highlights:

• Nationally renowned instructor of Orff music program
• Fourth-fifth grade Meadows Singers
• Physical education for all students
• Science and computer classes grades K-5
• Library classes with a certified librarian
• Spanish classes meet three times weekly for kindergarten and first grades, four times weekly for second and third grades, and daily for fourth and fifth grades. The two Spanish instructors are native speakers.

After school programs may include:

• Math Olympiad
