Upper School
The Meadows School provides a competitive athletic program. Most Upper School sports are contested at the 2A level, governed by the Nevada Interscholastic Activities Association (NIAA). Girls competein basketball, cheerleading, cross country, soccer, softball, swimming/diving, tennis, track and field, and volleyball. Boys compete in baseball, basketball, cross country, football, golf, soccer, swimming/diving, tennis, track and field, and wrestling. Since The Meadows student population is small and the School offers so many athletic teams, a much larger percentage of students are able to participate actively in games, meets, or matches than would be possible at the typical public or private school.
Despite an Upper School student body of less than 300, The Meadows has amassed a remarkable record of success in a broad range of athletic endeavors. Students have been recognized as individual state champions in the following: cross country, golf, swimming, tennis, track and field, and wrestling. State team championships have been earned in football, track and field, baseball, cross country, golf, softball, volleyball, and wrestling. During the 2006-2007 season, the boys' basketball team won the state championship for the fourth consecutive year, and the cheer squad won state titles in three categories plus the 2A Nevada Academic Award for the second consecutive year. In 2006, The Meadows golf team became the first Nevada team to win five consecutive state championships. The Meadows also holds the state record of 51 straight wins in football with five consecutive state championships from 1997-2001.
Even though The Meadows athletics teams have enjoyed much success, TMS athletics is about much more than just wins and losses. TMS student-athletes learn the lessons of hard work, discipline, and teamwork in a supportive environment that consistently achieves excellence while always remembering that academics come first. The Meadows School is very proud of its athletic programs and the legacy of excellence which has been built upon the hard work and integrity of the student-athletes. Go Mustangs!!
